A bunch of almosts comprised my weekend. I almost finished a report I’ve spent far too much time on. I almost had a really fun and amazing opportunity open up for me, only to slam shut last minute. I almost got enough sleep the last three nights (that’s a lie, but I’m working on a theme here).  I almost had a good day and I almost had a bad day. The last seventy-two hours have brought about nothing life-changing, but events that won’t be forgotten either.

Some people almost win- they lose by one point.

Some people almost die- the falling piano misses them by inches.

Some people almost get busted- the cop drives right by them!

Some people almost get saved. But it doesn’t happen for whatever reason.

Almost might make you squirm or even wet your pants. Sometimes, almost changes lives but often enough, it doesn’t- almost doesn’t cut it.

Almost meeting a deadline is still finishing late.

Almost winning is still losing.

Almost dying could mean missing limbs and organs, but one is still living in the flesh.

Almost getting busted means getting scared but not being forced to change.

Almost getting saved means that someone is still walking toward hell.

Almost can’t justify much, if anything. Imagine that Jesus’ blood was almost enough to save you, that God almost loved you, that the Bible was almost entirely true, that I was almost as good-looking as I am. Get the point? I’m fighting against against almost right now. Maybe it’ll be my goal to completely kill it in 2011 because I want to be so much more than almost anything.

What almosts are you currently fighting with?
